Bust of a female idol in lightly coloured terracotta shaped by hand. The stylized face is reminiscent of a bird with two holes as eyes and an elongated beak-shaped nose. The long hair is adorned with pendants that fall onto the shoulders. The idol is wearing several rows of necklaces with a pendant resting above a prosperous bare chest. Only the upper half of the statue remains. A perfect state of preservation. The pelletizing is intact and decorative elements perfectly legible. The culture of Mehrgarh was located on the Bolan river in Pakistan between the Balochistan mountain range and the Indus Valley, dating back to 7000 B.C. New sites have been found which confirm the presence of a pastoral and then sedentary culture, as well as the presence of handmade craftsmanship. From the beginning of 2600 B.C., the site seems to have been abandoned due to disturbances in the weather. It remains one of the first known cultures in South Asia. These prosperous idols with wide hips reference to cults of fertility and fecundity.
