Plate prettily decorated in the tradition of the Coclé culture. Smooth and varnished red terracotta painted before firing in tones of red, brown and black. The plate is somewhat deep and stands on a foot flaring quite a bit at its base. In all, it shows a beautiful proportion. The motif is partly geometric but asymmetric as was the custom with the craftspeople of this culture. Excellent state of preservation. The Coclé culture was situated in what corresponds to present-day Panama. It began around 500 AD and lasted until 1200 AD.
