ORIGIN: Ocarinas are small wind instruments in an ovoid shape (with globular tubes) drilled with 2 to 11 holes. Its origin is very ancient and many different types can be found, in many different shapes, all over the world. This one, which was found in South America, is of a particularly big size. The female is richly adorned with jewellery such as the Nariguera for the nose and bracelets.
This piece was exhibited in the Musée de Montélimar in France for the « Dolls, between rituals and tradition », exhibition from 1st April to 1st october 2017 and published in the catalogue.
