Alcohol bottle in Ping shape called “garlic clove” because of its long neck ending in a bulbous mouth like a lotus bud. Compressed globular body and tall foot ring. Another ring figures halfway down the neck. The vase has probably been cast upside down on a compact earth core, a method that allows utility objects in bronze to remain light. Very beautiful green and brown coloured patina on the bronze with wide areas of red oxidation. Excellent state of preservation. The nice original polish has permitted for light corrosion.
The garlic shape called hu was developed during the late Warring States period, replacing the former straight-necked flat. These vases are cast with an original method: the head was put upside down on a compact earth core. This method permitted utility objects in bronze to remain light. Very beautiful green and brown coloured patina on the bronze with wide areas of red oxidation, while the design is so clean and sophisticated.
